What is required to book you for my wedding or event?
Once we confirm my availability, we will schedule an initial introductory meeting via phone call or email. I will then create your custom proposal based on the details we discuss during our first meeting. I will give you a few options for you to choose from; once you choose your proposal, I will send you a contract and an invoice for a $$500 USD retainer. A signed contract and retainer payment will secure your date on my calendar.

What type of paint and material do you use?
I paint exclusively in a fine-art, pure pigment, acrylic paint on either a pre-stretched canvas or linen covered oak panel. Surface is determined by size and client preference as allowed. It is worth noting that I am committed to using completely non-toxic, environmentally friendly paint and mediums. Being water-based, acrylics are relatively quick drying, easy to clean up, and transport.

My venue will only allow you to set up an hour before my event starts, is that enough time??
Although I prefer to arrive tw hours in advance, I only need about 25 minutes to set up and start painting. I’m able to capture your day to near completion in 3 to 4 hours depending on canvas size and unforeseen factors. For local weddings, I will bring the painting back to my studio to complete. For destination or out-of-state weddings, I may require an additional day to complete the painting before heading back to north Alabama.

Where are you located? Will you travel?
My studio is in Decatur, Alabama. However, I am willing to travel throughout the country and internationally. Travel costs will be included in your proposal and will include compensation for airfare or mileage, hotel accommodations 2+ hours from my studio in north Alabama, and a rental car if necessary. A stipend is included in your proposal if your wedding requires more than 4 hours travel from my studio. Stipends cover travel time, meals, gas for rental cars, and other expenses that arise during travel. If warranted, a quote will be included with your proposal. If it is required that I ship the painting back to the studio to complete, then shipping & handling and insurance will be added to your proposal.
Local events (w/i 20 miles of Decatur, AL) don’t require travel compensation.

How long does it take to get my painting after the wedding?
Depending on size and detail, I will either finished the painting the night of the wedding and leave it with you that or bring it back to my studio for final details and touchups. Depending on the time of year, and number of hours spent on touch-ups in the studio, your live painting will be made available for pickup within 6-8 weeks of the wedding date. During busier times of year, like the month before Christmas, your painting may take a bit longer to finish. I’ll let you know when you painting is finished. It can be picked up locally or shipped directly to you. If I travel out of state to your wedding, I typically stay in your area an extra day or two to complete the painting. In this case, it can be picked up before my return flight.

My ceremony is relatively short, will you still be able to paint live?
Since ceremonies are typically short, it is ideal for me to arrive as early as possible so I can paint the background before your ceremony begins. I paint as much as I can during the actual ceremony and take photos for reference. Following the ceremony, I prefer to stay for the reception and nearly finish your painting by working from my photos. Guests seem to enjoy watching the ceremony painting’s progress while are celebrating! If I cannot stay for the reception, then I will finish the painting in my studio based on my photos.
Please note: I’m likely not allowed to live paint during church ceremonies / full mass services. If you wish to have any part of the church ceremony captured on canvas, I will happily do so - I will paint at the reception, working from reference photographs taken during the service. -
Can I choose who I want featured in the painting??
Absolutely! It’s important your painting reflects your vision. You can include up to 10 people. We can discuss the list ahead of time. You will need to task someone (usually your wedding planner or a family member) to point out your chosen guest during the reception. I typically bring the painting back to my studio after the wedding to do add some final touches. If someone was left out, I can add them per our agreement.

Will you need anything special from the venue?
I keep my setup simple requiring no assistance. I supply my own portable easel. Your venue will only need to provide a small painting area at 4′ X 6′, indoors or outdoors. I will access to a power outlet or supply for my light, a water source, and a place to dump non-toxic paint water (a wash sink). Of course, my set-up location will need to give me a good view of the scene I will be painting.

Do you offer special packages or discounts?
I offer extras such as additional paintings, print add-ons and more. As a long-time military spouse, a first responder’s daughter, and a first responder’s “momma,” I am proud to offer exclusive discounts to this special group of Americans.
